Betty J. Bourne

Betty J. Bourne, age 92, of Eaton, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton. She was born June 7, 1932 in Eaton to the late Russell R. and Freda L. (Tuttley) Stevens. Betty was a 1950 graduate of Eaton High School; was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Eaton; and worked as a florist at the Cox Grocery Store in Richmond and Lakengren Flower Shop and did volunteer work at Reid Hospital in Richmond making arrangements in the gift shop. She loved to play cards, was a great seamstress, enjoyed cooking and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Robert A. Bourne; and brothers Warren Stevens, Dale Stevens and Jim Stevens. She is survived by her daughters: Vickie (Bob) Volkerding and Kanita Fortney both of Eaton; grandchildren: Shaun (Melissa) Walters of Dry Ridge, KY, Anthony (Alicia) Walters of Troy, Ryan (Jill) Volkerding of Columbus, Bethany (Ryan) Andrus of Kalamazoo, MI and Nicholas (Devi) Walters of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren: Michael, Jack, Ava, Owen, Hudson, Karmady and Daphne; sister-in-law Margie Stevens of Eaton; brother-in-law Ronald (Freda) Bourne of The Villages, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of memorial service at 11:00 am at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Annie Melick officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.
