Carol Ann McDermitt

Carol Ann McDermitt, age 85, of New Paris, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on April 7, 1940, in Fort Wayne, IN.

Carol worked as a secretary and skilled typist for Belden Corp. in Richmond for 32 years. After retiring, she stayed busy working as a clerk for Northwest Fire and Ambulance in New Paris for 10 years. Additionally, Carol clerked for Kessler Auctioneers and Dillard's for many years and worked at the flower shop on Main Street in New Paris arranging flowers. She co-owned an antique shop in Centerville, IN and thoroughly enjoyed collecting antiques. Her hobbies included going boating with her family and growing flowers in her garden. She was an animal lover, especially her cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen (Shewman) Teaford.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David E. McDermitt; sons David J. (Christine) McDermitt of New Paris and Darren (Tamara) McDermitt of New Paris; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating.
