Carolyn L. Shade

Carolyn L. Shade, age 78, of Eaton OH passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Vancrest of Eaton Healthcare Center. She was born September 26, 1947 in Hamilton, OH.

Carolyn was a 1967 graduate of Eaton High School. She worked at Dayton Flex (Baxter) Company in Eaton for 25 years; and later worked in Housekeeping at Vancrest of Eaton Healthcare Center, retiring in 2020. Carolyn dearly loved all of her dogs.

She was preceded in death by her father Harry Hartman; mother and stepfather Jean Ann and Chuck Shafer; and sister Kathy Thralls.

She is survived by her son Jim (Amy) Fudge of Eaton; grandchildren Tesla (Andy) Dafler of Eaton, Dallas (Kenzi) Fudge of Eaton; great grandchildren Eli and Isaac Dafler of Eaton; siblings Pam Beeman of Richmond, Lisa (Shawn) Cox of Eaton and Mike (Michelle) Shafer of Eaton; special friend Debbie Davis of Eaton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 11:00 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, OH 45320 with Pastor Bryan Gevedon officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Preble County, PO Box 72, Eaton, OH 45320.
