Charles H. "Chip" Christman

April 27, 1963 — April 29, 2018

Chip Christman, age 55, peacefully left his family behind on April 29, 2018, after a recent diagnosis with a rare genetic disease called Alpha-1 Anti-Trypsin Deficiency. He is survived by wife Mary (Hake), whom he married on Maui Beach in 1995, and three beloved children: Joslyn (John) O’Grady, Cardiff-By-The-Sea, CA; Jacob, OSU finance student; John, Eaton High School senior; and two grandsons, Owen and Gavin O’Grady. He is also survived by his father, Curt Christman (and fiancé Maureen Bolinger) Eaton; and his brother Rob (Kelly) Christman, Springboro. His mother, Ruth Ann Christman, preceded him in death in 2006. He leaves behind Eatonians Julie Clark Hake; Diane (Doug) Cole; Susan (Andy) Conley; Ken (Karen) Hake; Peggy (Mark) Vosler; and Becky (Doug) Morin. Also John (Gretchen) Hake (West LaFayette, IN/China); Julia (Joe) DiCicco (Bellbrook, OH), and many beloved nieces and nephews. Special childhood friends: Tony Miley, Andy Weadick, Brian Dearth, and Bret Hart. Chip loved living in Eaton where he was born April 27, 1963. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1981 and Miami University with a finance degree in 1985. His career included Bank One, Fifth Third Bank, Eaton National Bank, and most presently Twin Valley Bank. Chip was strongly community-minded. Servant roles include: Washington Township Fiscal Officer the past 29 years, Lions Club, the Investors Club, the Eaton Foundation, Visitation Church Choir, Miami University Glee Club, the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, formerly the HIT Foundation and YMCA board member. Chip was known as Mary’s “energizer bunny” for his love of family, exceptional intelligence, wit, humor, taking daily walks with fur babies, Sedona (Lab) and Joey (Aussie Shepherd), and his dream of learning to fly. He was a voracious reader of aviation and history. Chip was a talented outdoorsman who enjoyed golf and grooming his lawn. He cherished Broadway Musicals and singing with groups and choirs. May you rest serenely, Chip, beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Everyone who remembers Chip is asked to celebrate in their own way. Instead of flowers Chip would want you to reach out and complete an unexpected/unsolicited act of kindness for someone less fortunate in his name. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home of Eaton where Visitation will be held Wednesday May 2nd from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Mass will be held Thursday May 3rd at the Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton.
