Clarence E. Baker

Clarence E. Baker, age 89 of Eldorado Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by family.  He was born October 15, 1934 in Brookville, Ohio to William and Thelma (Good) Baker.  He was a veteran serving in the Army from 1954 through 1956, stationed in Germany.  In 1973, Clarence started his own business, C & B Appliance Service.  After 25 years, he retired and worked part time at Miami Valley Plastics in Eldorado.  In the 1960’s, he served as Cub & Scout Master for Troop #64.  He was once Mayor of Eldorado, coached girls’ softball for several years, played on the church softball league as the pitcher, bowled on a league for many years and was a member of Eldorado United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed watching all sports, was an avid Reds fan and enjoyed spending time with family. 

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Paul Baker, sister Esther Newman, son-in-law Larry Hemmelgarn, daughter-in-law Ellen Baker and great granddaughter Audree Mae Dill.

He is survived by his wife, Belva (Branscome) Baker of 66 years; son Ed Baker; daughters Jeni (Paul) Price, Dana Hemmelgarn and Lisa (Kevin) Pierce; grandchildren Shawn (Sunshine) Hoff, Danielle (Ryan) Burtch, Matt (Amber) Price, Jayme (Bret) Dill, Brian (Brittany) Baker, Dustin (Amanda) Pierce and Ryan (Kayla) Hemmelgarn; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers David, Frank and Kenny Baker; sisters Cathy Miltenberger and Phyllis Clapp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2:00 pm until time of funeral service at 4:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 W. Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Pastor Terry Campbell officiating.  A private interment will take place at Wares Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester, Ohio.
