Dan Day, Sr., age 84, of West Alexandria, OH passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was born February 4, 1941 in Breathitt County, KY to the late Marion and Edith (Collins) Day.
Dan was a big family man. He was known to everyone as “Pap”, a name given to him by his beloved grandchildren. He was very personable and never met a stranger. He was an Appalachian storyteller and a jokester. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, specifically deep sea fishing and Great Lakes fishing. He retired from local 392 as a pipefitter, where he worked many years with his son, Danny.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma J. Day; his parents-in-law Stanley and Grace (Caskey) Webb; and sisters-in-law Judith A. Day and Londa Day; and brother-in-law Jim Retherford. He is survived by his beloved children Danny (Debbie) Day of West Alexandria and Tammy (Scott) Vosler of Eaton; grandchildren Matt Vosler, Sean (Victoria) Vosler, Adam (Stacie) Day, Jenna (Jonathan) McGraner; great-grandchildren Renly Vosler, Theo Vosler, Liam McGraner, Lucas McGraner; sister Dorothy Rethorford of Eaton; brothers Darrel Day, Marion Day, Jr. and Sewell Day, all of West Alexandria; sisters-in-law Evelyn Hessley of Geneva, OH and Pat Smith of Wichita, KS; brother-in-law Larry Webb of Richmond, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews and a large supportive family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to West Alexandria Fire & EMS, 25 E. Dayton St., West Alexandria, OH 45381.
