Dorothy May Brubaker, daughter of Emory and Hattie (Landis) Deaton was born April 4, 1924, in Preble County Ohio.
Realizing her need for a Savior, she was baptized on May 30, 1944, into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which she remained faithful until death.
On October 6, 1946, she was united in holy matrimony with John Brubaker. She was a loving and devoted companion, and they shared the joys and sorrows of wedded life for over 50 years. This happy union was blessed with 4 sons and 1 daughter.
Her interests centered around the Church, her family and many friends. Mother was blessed with an exceptional memory and took a sincere interest in people. This was felt by all who knew her, enlarged her circle of friends, and helped fill the 29 years that she lived alone after the death of Daddy. Until the last few months, she spent many hours embroidering pillowcases for family and friends. Lovingly and tenderly her family cared for her at home until the morning hours of Friday, July 17, 2026. She peacefully slept away at the age of 102 years, 3 months and 13 days. Our loss will be keenly felt.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 4 brothers, Glen (Bertha), Omer (Esther), Clifford (Ruby), and Leonard; 1 sister Reva; 1 grandson Jared Oyler and 2 great-grandsons.
Surviving are her 5 children and their companions; Gayle and Marva, Roger and Nancy, Keith and Arlene, Calvin and Deb, Rebecca and Paul Oyler; 19 grandchildren and their companions; 78 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Upper Twin Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 3614 Halderman Rd., West Alexandria, OH 45381. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Alexandria. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church.
