Galen W. Shump

Galen W. Shump, age 72, of New Paris, OH passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Reid Health in Richmond, IN. He was born March 4, 1953 in Winchester, IN to the late Howard Galen and Marjorie Ruth (Thompson) Shump. Galen was a member of the Eldorado Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and enjoyed cooking for church functions. He enjoyed gardening and spending time in his yard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ver-non Lee Shump; great nephew Jordan Yount. He is survived by his sister Sherry Yount of New Paris; nephews Jeff (Candace) Yount of New Paris and Jason (Tina) Yount of Eldorado; niece Tammy (Jimmy) Silvers of Ruskin, FL; great nephews Cole (Lindsey) Yount, Jered Yount and Jesse (Whitney) Sheets; great nieces Rebekah Yount and Miranda (Ricky) Burwick; and several great great nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris. Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.
