George William Lahman

George William Lahman, son of Samuel James Tilton and Mahala Florence (Denlinger) Lahman was born on August 29,1924 in Stanislaus County on Shoemake Avenue near Modesto, CA.  He passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023 at the home of his daughter near Arcanum, Ohio at the age of 98 years.

He answered the call of his Savior and along with Otho Holsinger was baptized on April 12, 1942 by Elder Hubert Rumble, becoming a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Modesto district.

On March 22, 1953 he was united in marriage to Vera Viola Denlinger, daughter of Ray and Angela Denlinger. Together they shared life joys and sorrows for 69 years. They lived in the Donnels Creek district the first year of their marriage then moved to the Prices Creek district.  This union was blessed with 6 children.

Dad grew up in California in the Wood Colony and then Modesto districts. His father died when he was 11 years old and his mother when he was 25.  After marrying he moved to Ohio and was a lifelong farmer. He also enjoyed working in his orchard and garden.

He was recently annointed from which he received much comfort.

He is survived by his loving wife Vera Viola; children Barbara and (Charles) Beeghley, Phillip and (Sandy) Lahman, Rita and (Bruce) Turner, and Russell and (LuAnn) Lahman; sons-in-law Reyn (Sue) Angle and David Miller; 27 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and nephew Neal Basore and wife Phyllis.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law; daughters Marilyn Angle and Carol Miller; grandson Justin Turner; half brother and sister-in-law Harry and Evelyn Basore; and nephew Otto Basore and wife Barbara.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Prices Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 6223 State Route 726, Eldorado, OH. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church.
