George R. Statzer, age 81, of Eldorado, OH passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center. He was born December 9, 1944 in Eldorado to the late Gordon and Mildred (Beck) Statzer.
George was a 1962 graduate of Monroe High School. He married Janet Smith in 1966. He worked at various jobs throughout his life that include farming, Rodefeld’s Auto Parts and American Aggregate; he and Janet were co-owners of the Dari Freeze in West Manchester for 9 years; and he was the former Mayor of West Manchester. He enjoyed camping with family and friends; playing cards and dominos; and dearly loved spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gene Statzer, Joe Statzer, Bill Statzer and Jim Statzer; and sister Martha Jane Smith.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Janet Statzer; sons Doug (Kiersten) Statzer and Kevin (Kate) Statzer; grandchildren Scott Statzer, Patrick Statzer, Phoenix Statzer, Camden Statzer, Emilee Statzer and Morgan Statzer; brother David Statzer; sister Mary Ann Grieshop; sister-in-law Janiece Statzer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 2:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery in Eldorado. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Vancrest of Eaton Activity Fund or Hospice of Dayton.
