Harold E. Swihart

Harold E. Swihart, age 92, of Eldorado, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Monroe Township, Preble County, OH in 1934, the son of Raymond and Edith (Null) Swihart. Harold was a 1952 graduate of Monroe High School in Preble County. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, being stationed in Korea in the last year of his service. He was a life member of AMVETS Post #726 in Eldorado, a member of American Legion Post #65 in Richmond, IN, and belonged to Greenville, OH Moose Lodge #329. After his service he was employed by the U.S. Stamped Envelope Agency in Dayton, OH, later transferring to the maintenance department of the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Phyllis A. (Emrick) Swihart; brothers Gene and Charles Swihart; sisters Helen Richie, Dorothy Johnson, Betty Wigginton and Barbara Fisher. He is survived by his stepson Larry (Rebecca) Baker of Richmond, IN; son Douglas E. (Tanya) Swihart of Eaton, OH; grandson Seth Swihart; granddaughters Jessica Swihart, Amanda Bechtol and Danielle Baker; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Wares Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester, OH at the convenience of the family.
