James MacFadyen

MacFADYEN, James, age 83 of Farmersville, OH. passed away Mon. June 17, 2019 in Dayton.  He was born in Arkadelphia, AR. on Feb. 16, 1936 to Donald and Mildred (Baker) MacFadyen. He was a Korean Army veteran serving from 1954 to 1956.  Mr MacFadyen received his undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Florida where he was on their golf team and he received his Master’s degree from Miami University.  He was a school teacher most of his life, starting at Gratis High School, then Twin Valley South High School and he retired after 21 years from Dayton Public School system.  Jim was an avid golfer, winning many matches through the years, including the Dayton City Amateur Golf Assoc. Tournament at the DP&L Course in 1961 and he won the golf tournament at the Senior Golf Classic played at the Highland Lake Golf Club, Richmond, IN. in 1995.  He was also passionate about horse racing, especially harness racing.  He was a member #0888 American Legion in Deleware, OH.  Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn MacFadyen, 4 children, Debbie MacFadyen, Farmersville, OH., Susan (Alastair) Mitchell, Chagrin Falls, OH., Becky (Mike) Dunn, Brookville, Oh, David (Regina) MacFadyen, Altamonte Springs, FL., 8 grandchildren, Lindsey Mabry, Brannon Dunn, Cameron Dunn, Alastair Mitchell, Callum Mitchell, Miranda Mitchell, Declan MacFadyen, Molly MacFadyen and 1 great granddaughter, Ellie Mabry, sister, Katy Friedlander, Marana,AZ and brother, David MacFadyen, Angola, IN., nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beth Sharrow.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, West Alexandria, OH. with Rev. Ron Dafler officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thurs. from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  Memorial donations may be made to the Farmersville Rescue Squad, 207 N. Elm St., Farmersville, OH 45325.
