Karen E. Hensel

June 15, 1945 — April 19, 2022

Karen E. Hensel, age 76, of West Manchester, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 into the arms of Jesus at her home outside of West Manchester, OH.  She was born June 15, 1945 in Lewisburg, OH to the late Harlan G. and Emma I. (Geeting) Snyder.  She was a 1963 graduate of Monroe High School.  She worked for three years as an executive secretary at Standard Register in Dayton, OH before having her children and becoming a homemaker.  She sang with the Snyder Sisters, a gospel singing group for 15 years.  She resided in Lake Placid, FL with her husband the past 22 years during the fall and winter months.  Karen was a class member and discussion leader of Bible Study Fellowship in Richmond, IN for several years and attended Castine Church in Castine, OH and Community Church of God in Lake Placid, FL.  She lived life to the fullest; enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her family and friends; loved to ride the motorcycle with her husband over the past 51 years; was an avid pickleball player; enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family and friends, where she was known to be very competitive; and deeply loved her husband, family and friends, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Bigham; and brothers-in-law Charles “Choppy” Woltja and Harold Beckett.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ronald L. Hensel of West Manchester; son Keith (Carol) Hensel of West Manchester; daughters Karolyn (Russ) Stipek of Dayton and Kathy (Rodney) Shelley of West Manchester; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother Albert (Melody) Snyder of Englewood; sisters Sandra Beckett (Chuck) Leis of Eaton and Janet Woltja of Eaton; brother-in-law Gale Bigham of New Paris; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.  Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 3:00 pm until time of memorial service at 7:00 pm at the Castine Church, 624 US 127, Castine, OH 45304 with Pastor Greg Hyre officiating.  A private interment will take place at Wares Chapel Cemetery in West Manchester.  Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Dayton.  Online condolences and other remembrances may be sent by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com
