Kenneth Eugene Landes

Kenneth Eugene Landes, son of Lee R. and Alma M. (Brubaker) Landes, was born on Feb. 23, 1932 in Preble County, on a farm near Eldorado, Ohio. Daddy passed peacefully from time to eternity at home on May 14th, 2021 making his sojourn 89 years, 2 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Thelma Louise Filbrun on June 17, 1951 at her home near Dayton, OH. This union was blessed with 4 sons and 3 daughters. Daddy and Mother were baptized on August 15, 1951 into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which He remained faithful until death. In August 1954 they were called to the ministry of the Word and ordained to the Eldership on Aug. 9, 1973. He was active in this ministry for 66 years, devotedly serving the Brotherhood in various capacities. Daddy enjoyed raising their family, farming and milking cows until 1987 when they moved off the farm. He was still actively farming and helped the boys until 2000. Daddy was blessed with good health until Sept. 2015 when he suffered from a stroke. We were grateful for the Masters healing touch, bringing him back to reasonable health for his sunset years. In October 2020 daddy asked for the anointing. He was anointed with oil, bringing him much comfort, strengthened by the promise of James 5: 15. Daddy is survived by his loving wife of 69 years. A daughter Donna (James) Oyler of Delphi, IN, son Wayne (Carolyn) of New Madison, OH, daughter, Sylvia (Joe) Yoder of West Manchester, OH, son, Gary (Lisa) of Lewisburg, OH, twins, Donald (Michelle) of Eldorado OH, and Ronald (Sarah) of Eldorado, OH and daughter Dianne (Terry) Bowman of Chambersburg, PA. 29 grandchildren, 81 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. A sister Luella Knaus, brothers in law Norman Flory, Marlin Filbrun and Norman Filbrun, and sister-in-law Virginia Filbrun.  Daddy was preceeded in death by his parents, his in laws, Floyd and Mary Filbrun, sister Pauline Flory, brothers in law Donald Knaus and Eldin Filbrun, sister in law Janice Filbrun. A grandson, Adam Landes, a great grandson Jordan Metzger and a great granddaughter Katelyn Miller. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Prices Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Eldorado, OH.  Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 12:00 to 5:00 pm and 5:30 to 9:00 pm at the church.  Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
