Lowell Wolfe

Wolfe, Lowell F., age 86 of Gratis, OH. died June 29, 2010 in Dayton, OH.  He was born in Montgomery Co., OH. to Ivy and Gertrude (Garber) Wolfe on Aug. 1, 1923.  He was a graduate of Lanier High School.  He was a WWII Army veteran and received 2 Purple Hearts after being injured in Okinawa and a Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Victory WWII Medal, WWII veterans pin.  He had worked for Camden Ready Mix in his early years and then was self employed with Wolfe's Construction for about 40 years.  He was a former board member of the Preble County Senior Citizen Center, a member of James E. Ryan Post #322 American Legion, member  of F.O.E. #4289 Eagles Lodge, and member of the First Baptist Church of Gratis.  He is survived by 3 children, Shirley Richardson, step-daughter, Gratis, OH., Kay Moses, Eaton, OH. and Ronnie Wolfe, Gratis, OH, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 2 sisters, Thelma Cook, Trotwood, OH and Velma Long, Franklin, OH. numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Thelma Combs Wolfe, and 5 brothers, Johnny, Damon, Robert, Oscar and Harold Wolfe.  Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Fri. July 2, 2010 at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Gratis,OH. with Rev. J.C. Moses and Jerry Carter officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Gratis, OH.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thurs.  from 5-8PM.  Donations may be made to: James E.
