Marvin E. Hawvermale

Marvin E. Hawvermale, age 97, of Eaton, OH passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center. He was born August 1, 1924 in Montgomery County to the late George and Edith (Gephart) Hawvermale. Marvin graduated from Farmersville High School, Farmersville, OH in 1942. He was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ, where he had served on the council and finance committees. Marvin and his late wife Donna visited the shut-ins from the church weekly at their homes and nursing homes. Marvin was a life-long dairy farmer, beginning his farming with his father in Farmersville, OH before going out on his own in Trotwood, OH then moving to Eaton, OH in 1960, purchasing his first farm on State Route 122 West where he continued farming until retirement in 2006 at the age of 82. He enjoyed gardening; raising his gladiolus and participating in many floral shows with his award-winning flowers; and mowing all of his farm along the roadways. Marvin served in the U.S. Army during WWII after being drafted in June 1944 and was a POW before being discharged in October 1945. Marvin was a 4-H advisor for numerous years and also served on the Production Credit Board. He was involved with the Pork Festival for many years being in charge of the sausage making. Marvin also served on the Eaton Community School Board for 8 years and the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School Board for 6 years. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his late wife Donna A. Hawvermale (Coppess) on March 15, 2018 at the age of 91 after 70 years of marriage; and his brothers Chester, Cecil, and Norman. Marvin is survived by his daughters Diana J Meinhold of Costa Mesa, CA, Patricia K. Flory of Greenville, OH, and Nancy S. (Bill) Hicks of Eaton, OH; grandchildren Keith (Brandon) Flory, Kevin (Michelle) Flory, Amber (Jeff) Michael, and Kristin (Chris) Leber; and great grandchildren Grant (Katlyn) Flory, Lauren Flory, Kayleigh Michael, Drew Michael, Derrick Michael, Lukas Flory, and Braelyn Leber. Marvin had a love for sports of any kind and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play various sports. He was one of their biggest supporters and that memory will always live on with the children. Marvin also supported Eaton Community Schools attending their sports during the school year. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at the Eaton United Church of Christ, 113 West Decatur Street, Eaton, OH 45320. Sending my love and prayers to the Hawvermale family. Marvin and Donna were two of the kindest people I know, with a great love for others. They were truly the hands and feet of Christ, serving others, and another set of grandparents to my children. "Well done, thy good and faithful servant". Shirley Foster Clark

Dean and I send our sympathy and prayers. We remember Marvin and Donna from our years at UCC. I always marveled at their commitment to attend Eaton school sports well into their later years.

He and his wife were lovely and kind people. May he RIP and what a reunion for he and Donna; together again and if heaven has grass they will be riding their mowers side by side.
