Marvin N. Knasel, age 84, of Eaton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2026 at his home. He was born November 4, 1941 in Covington, Kentucky to the late Edward and Hyacinthia (Yunker) Knasel.

Marvin grew up in Covington, Kentucky the youngest of eight surviving children. He was on the Life Squad and Fire Department in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. He eventually moved to Ashtabula, Ohio with his wife Liz and was on the Board of the Ashtabula Historical Society and the Animal Protective League. He was a devout Catholic, and was active in church and with the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Civil War Association (OVCWA) for 35 years in the 35th Ohio Light Artillery. Woodworking was a longtime passion of his; in his younger days, you would always find him in his workshop or helping others with carpentry projects. He was also an active caver, which is an activity he enjoyed with a group of friends. His nickname was “OBG”, or “Old Bald Guy”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings and one son.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Z. Knasel; children Connie Walters, Sharon Rivard, Michael (Lisa) Whitlock, Tracy (Todd) Addison, Marvin “Tony” (Trina) Knasel; stepdaughter Laura (John Cmar) Burns; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister Jo Ann Koch; and church daughter Joyce Griffith.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 407 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow, also at the church at 11:00 am with Father Jim Romanello officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church for the refurbishing of The Our Lady of the Highways Shrine in Camden, Ohio.
