Mary Alice (Metzger) Bowser Peters was born March 31st, 1932 to Lloyd and Esther (Thomas) Metzger, near Dayton, Ohio. She departed from this life to eternity September 30th, 2026, making her time on earth 94 years six months.
On October 7th, 1950, feeling the need of a Savior she, along with her future husband Richard, was baptized in faith and became a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church. On July 29th, 1951 she was joined in marriage to Richard E Bowser.
Within the first couple years they began dairy farming near Englewood, Ohio. Their union was blessed with three sons. On January 8th, 1966, she and her husband were called to the deacon's office at Stillwater district.
They were residing in the Prices Creek district near Eldorado, Ohio when, after 42 years of marriage, Richard passed away March 1st, 1995.
On March 30th, 1997, Mother married elder Lloyd Peters, and for the next 12 1/2 years, she stood beside him in the ministry at Ash Grove district, Lima, Ohio, until his passing October 19th, 2009. Shortly thereafter she moved back to her former home in the Prices Creek district.
Family was a large part of mother's life. This started with fond childhood memories of growing up on the farm with her parents, older brother and younger sister and many happy times visiting grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Continuing down through the grandchildren and great grandchildren, she cared very deeply and had a keen interest in us all to the very end, including the tie with Lloyd's children and grands. She dearly loved and appreciated her church family as well.
Her last years were spent in Wisconsin with her youngest son and family, where she passed peacefully.
Mary Alice is survived by her three sons, and their wives, Kent (Claudia), Keith (Catherine), Kelvin (Susan) Bowser. Thirty grandchildren with their companions, and seventy-four great grandchildren.
Also 3 stepchildren and their spouses, one step son-in-law, seventeen step grandchildren, forty-five step great grandchildren, fourteen step great great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Carolyn (Larry) Holsinger.
Preceding her in death as well as her two spouses, were her parents, her brother Dennis (Leah) Metzger, her sister Ruth Ellen (Karl) Bowman; two great grandchildren Laelle Byler, and Benedict Bowser; Richard's parents and siblings- Raymond and Wanda Bowser, Juanita (Elmer) Fisher, Colleen Bowser, Roger (Nancy) Bowser; Lloyd's parents, two daughters and siblings- Henry and Alta Peters, Ann (Donald) Rutrough, Ava Rapp, Laura (Elmer) Robinson, Lawrence (Virginia) Peters, Everett (Mildred) Peters; one step grandson Benjamin Peters, two step great great grandchildren Cami Wray, and Chip Wray.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 8th, 2026 at the Prices Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 6223 State Route 726, Eldorado, OH. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the church.
