Mary Lee Cooper, age 70, of Camden, OH, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 23, 2023.  She was born April 19, 1953 in Orlando, FL to the late Bernard and Corine Taylor.  Mary was a 1971 graduate of Preble Shawnee High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece Jill Marie Taylor, mother-in-law and father-in-law Albert and Velma Cooper. 

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 52 years, Wayne Cooper of Camden; son Aaron (Tawny) Cooper of Lewisburg; daughter Allison (Bill) Myers of Camden; son Austin (Cara Trevino) Cooper of Idyllwild, CA; grandchildren: Zoe, Taylor, Sierra (Ian), Kylie (Riley), Hannah, Sophia, Marisa and Alex; sisters Connie Taylor of College Corner and Twila (Clem) Schwabe of Richwood, KY; brothers Jack (Diane) Taylor of Cottage Grove, IN and Alan (Muriel) Taylor of Camden; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, nephews, her “YaYa” sisters and many other special friends.

She retired in 2014 as an administrative assistant from Miami University and worked occasionally for Preble Shawnee Schools after retirement. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, and the Oxford Women’s Club. Mary loved line dancing especially with her husband and daughter. She loved everything about the holidays, which included extensive decorating, hosting dinners, and baking with her grandchildren. Mary dearly loved spending time at their family’s cabin at Dale Hollow Lake in Kentucky. 

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty Street, Camden OH with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating.  Gard Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Eaton are assisting with arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the Jill Taylor Memorial Scholarship, ℅ Preble Shawnee Schools Treasurer Marcus Makras.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com
