Mary Alice Petry, age 101, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 23, 1923 in Wayne County, IN to the late John B. and Laura (Austerman) Toschlog. Mary Alice was a 1941 graduate of Jefferson School in New Paris; she farmed many years with her husband Daniel and together founded Mulberry Pheasantry in 1953; and was a 75 year member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Camden. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Michigan; playing scrabble with her family and friends; making her famous sticky rolls along with many other recipes that she passed down to her family; and gardening that included growing heirloom tomatoes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel F. Petry Jr.; son Anthony “Tony” Petry; brother Clem Toschlog; and sisters Rosemary Quesenberry and Anna Mae Petry. She is survived by her daughters Lois (Dave) Kuhbander of Camden and Velma (Mike) Moore of Camden; daughter-in-law Wilma Petry; grandchildren Gary Petry, Chris (Kristin) Moore, Joyce (Jason) Poe, Jenni (Matt) Clifford, Brian (Erica) Kuhbander and Andy (Tasha) Kuhbander; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home, 113 Ada Doty Street, Gratis, OH. Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Alice will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Camden, OH. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, OH.
