Melissa Jean Enghaus

Melissa Jean Enghaus, age 61, of Eaton, OH passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was born January 31, 1965 in Winchester, IN.

Melissa was a 1983 graduate of Winchester High School. She held many office positions over the years, including US Bank, Harvestland co-op in Eaton, Lobdale Foundry in Winchester, and most recently for Marie Dwyer Recovery in Eaton; within her work she loved her clients and coworkers dearly. Melissa was an honorary FFA member for her help with National Trail Schools. She had a great fondness for horses, which she ended up sharing with her granddaughters; she also found joy in fishing and taking care of her gardens. She loved loving on people, whether it was at work, her friends, or her beloved family. Cooking was a passion of hers, especially when it meant she got to feed her family. Her love of people extended to hosting friends and family at her home, which fostered memories that would last a lifetime. She was a youth group leader for Campbellstown United Church of Christ, where she was a member and made many meaningful connections. Above all else, she was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She loved her girls very much.

She was preceded in death by her father David Locke and her husband Scot Enghaus.

She is survived by her mother Betty Locke of Winchester, IN; daughter Abbie (Campbell) Steele, husband Mike, and granddaughters Kyleigh and MaKenna of Lewisburg, OH; partner Steve Fields of Eaton; stepson Joshua Fields and fiancée Meg of Madison, WI; brother Ed Locke of Union City, IN; and numerous other extended family members.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 pm at the Community of Faith, 4200 South A Street, Richmond, IN 47374 with Pastor Justin Wiegand officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City, IN. A meal will be shared at the church after the burial for continued fellowship and memories.
