Michael G. Appledorn

Michael G. Appledorn, 62, of Eaton, Ohio, died December 11, 2011 at the VA Hospice Center after a tough battle with MSA (Multiple System Atrophy). Mr. Appledorn was born April 30, 1949 in Huntington, WV to George and Jessie (Stover) Appledorn. He attended Wellston High School in Wellston, OH. Upon graduation he served our great country by enlisting in the US Navy. After discharge from the Navy, he went to work for City Loan (CitiFinancial) in Columbus, Sidney and Eaton, Ohio branches for a total of 38 years. He served in many organizations and positions. He was a member of the Eaton Lions Club, former member of the Preble County United Way, American Heart Association, and Eaton Country Club. He enjoyed Ohio State football and basketball. He enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Appledorn, son’s Tim and Todd (Crystal) Appledorn both of Eaton, Ohio, sisters Pat (Dick) Starr of Kissimmee, FL, Becky (Steve) Kisor of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Mary (John) Broderick of San Jose, CA and brother Tom (Kathy) Appledorn of Westerville, Ohio. He is also survived by two grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Jessie Appledorn. He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Visitation Catholic Church, 407 East Main Street, Eaton, OH with Father J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will follow at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, OH. In lieu of flowers we ask to make a donation in Mike’s name to the Dayton VA Hospice Unit, 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428.
