Michael "Mike" K. Vance

Michael “Mike” K. Vance, age 68 of Gratis, Ohio went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2024. He passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. He was born March 26, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio son of Albert and Helen (Steele) Vance. 

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He retired from the Laborers Local Union and then went to work and retired from the Montgomery County Environmental Services. He volunteered at the Gratis Emergency Squad. Most recently he held a seat at the Gratis Village Council. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Albert Vance; and sister, Brenda Zavakos.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Joan Vance; children, Melissa (Johnie) Colvin, Christopher Vance, Lori Noyes, Bryan (Elizabeth) Kolonis, and Jim (Danielle) Kolonis; grandchildren, Brenna, Rebecca, Nora, Malaya, Michael, Malani, Isaiah, Aubrey; mother, Helen (Steele) Vance; brother -in-law, Marty Zavakos; niece, Jeni (Dan) Johnson; former wife, Linda Vance; as well as several close friends, neighbors, and other family members. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11am at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, Ohio.  A reception will immediately follow at the First Brethren Church, 100 S. East Street, Gratis, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Mike's honor to the Gratis Township Rescue Association at P.O. Box 671, Gratis, OH 45330.
