Norma Frances (Moberly) Mikesell, age 85 of West Alexandria, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born April 15, 1940, to the late William “Bill” and Helen (Henderson) Moberly in Eaton, OH. She was one of 11 children and a 1958 graduate of West Alexandria High School.
Norma will be remembered for her wittiness, iconic sayings, peanut butter pie, love of playing cards, and dancing to music by the likes of the Bee Gees, Elvis and Conway Twitty. Above all, she will be revered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
After a brief two-week courtship, she married Richard Mikesell on March 19, 1966. For 59 years she was a devoted wife, and 57 of those years, an exceptional mother to Dalana and Kimberly. Norma was a loving homemaker, caregiver and unwavering foundation to her family. She will be profoundly missed as a steadfast presence of family gatherings, dinners, game nights and nearly every other aspect of her family’s life.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Taylor, Lelia Wymer, Anna DeWulf, Linda O’Dell and her brother Michael Moberly. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Mikesell; daughters Dalana (John) Taylor, Kimberly Siney (Alan Cain); grandchildren Corryn Wooton, Kyle (Alex) Norton, Jalen Taylor, Kristi (Neil) Rogers, and Brian Taylor; great grandchildren Brixley Norton, Marleigh Anspaugh, Judah, Ezra, Luka and Aviana Rogers; brothers Charles Moberly and Dale (Phyllis) Moberly; sisters Mabel (Joe) Shafer, Dorothy (Curtis) Early and Shirley (Jim) Jellison and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 West Main Street, Eaton, OH. Funeral service for Norma will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in West Alexandria.
