Patricia Mae Simpson, age 97, of New Paris, OH passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center. She was born on April 12, 1928 in Richmond, IN to the late Lowell and Priscilla (Arnold) Culbertson.

Patty graduated from Jefferson High School in New Paris in 1946. She was married to Charles R. Simpson for 46 years until his death in 1994. She worked and retired from Montgomery Ward as an office clerk. Patty was a very sweet and kind person. She was the last mom/parent from a street ("The Hill") full of good families and lifelong friends where the Simpsons made their home. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons John, David and Jack Simpson, all of New Paris, and Mark (Margo) Simpson of Richmond; daughter Joyce Clarkston of Centerville, IN; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews of the Culbertson and Simpson families; and her good friend Mary Doyle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles; sister Virginia Whirley; brothers Richard and Marion Culbertson; great grandson Chance Lanman; daughter-in-law Lois Simpson; and son-in-law Jim Clarkston.

A public graveside service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hand in Hand Adult Day Center, 2727 E. Main Street, Richmond, IN 47374 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 6 N. Main Street, Suite 130, Dayton, OH 45402. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting the family with arrangements.
