Ruth Zimmerman, 95, of West Alexandria died Thursday, August 26, 2011 surrounded by loved ones. A visitation will be held at 3:30 PM and a memorial service at 4:30 PM Thurs. Sept. 1, 2011 at St. John Church, 20 East South St., West Alexandria, Ohio.She was born a Valentine baby on February 14.1916. She graduated from Withrow High School and earned degrees in dietetics and education from the University of Cincinnati. Her teaching career began in Gratis, Ohio. There she met her husband of 40 years, Oleson “Zim†Zimmerman. She later taught home economics in the Lanier and Twin Valley South School System for twenty-five years. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, a brother, Hal Ballman, and sister, Mildred Rasor. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Ken) Russell and Debbie (Rob) Decker; grandchildren Angela (David) Kutter, Robyn Decker, and Jordan Decker; four great-grandchildren Julianne, Kylee, Paige, and Oliver. Ruth will be missed by her family and many friends and students whose lives she touched. Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
