Sally I. Mowell, age 72, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Ft. Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, OH. She was born July 12, 1953 in Terra Haute, IN.
Sally was a 1972 graduate of State High School in Terre Haute, IN. She retired as a HR Specialist from Dmax Limited LTD in Dayton, OH. She was a member of the Covenant of Peace Church in Eaton, OH. She was a member of the Twin Valley School Board for two years. Sally dearly loved gospel music and enjoyed promoting concerts; and most of all she dearly loved all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her father John Matherly; and mother and stepfather Emma and Bill Smiddy.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ken Mowell of West Alexandria; sons Matthew Mowell and Lance Mowell both of West Alexandria; grandchildren Sidney (Mason) McCargish, Taylor Mowell, Skylyn (Matthew) Cornett, Conner Mowell, Jayce Mowell and Blake Mowell; great granddaughter Rosemary Cornett; brothers J.D. (Shirley) Matherly and Bill Matherly both of Terre Haute, IN; uncle Don Armstrong of Terre Haute, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 10:00 am until time of memorial service at 12:00 noon at the Covenant of Peace Church, 4745 US. Route 127, Eaton, OH. Gard Funeral Home, Eaton is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, and to honor Sally’s deep commitment to supporting education, the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the TVS Student Fund. This fund will carry on Sally and Ken’s meaningful work of providing assistance to local students in need. Contributions may be mailed to TVS Treasurer’s Office, 100 Education Drive, West Alexandria, OH 45381. Checks can be made payable to Twin Valley South with a memo indicating “Mowell Memorial”.
