Shelby J. Alexander

Shelby J. Alexander, age 81, of Lewisburg, OH, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at her residence.  She was born December 18, 1940 in Elk Valley, TN to the late Elmer and Catherine Lawson.  Shelby was a school bus driver for Eaton Community Schools for many years.  She enjoyed family research and helping others with their genealogy and even published a book that is located in many libraries throughout the United States.  She was also instrumental in organizing family reunions for 25 years in Jellico, TN.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Duane Barnes; sisters Ruth Glascoe and Frances Mehl; brother Billy Ray Lawson; and nephew Kenneth Glascoe.  She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Alexander of Lewisburg, OH; son Robert (Kim) Davidson of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Brenda (James) Renner of Dayton, OH; daughter Debbie Bowlin of Brookville, OH; son Jamie (Malynda) Alexander of Nancy, KY; daughter Judy Muse of Somerset, KY; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; brother Mitch (Twila) Hunter of Lewisburg, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Drive, Eaton, OH.  Entombment will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, OH.  Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Eaton, OH is assisting with arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.

Shelby was a very special lady, she took care of my son when he had to start school in Dayton at 3 years old, she drove his bus and he always loved her and I as well . I also worked with her at Walmart, she was a very caring soul, prayers for her family during this sad time .

I am so sorry to hear this. The were my family when I was young since our mothers were best of friends. My condolences Bill & Mitch & your families. When we were young, Shelb could tell some ghost stories.
