Thomas A. Stonecash

February 4, 1938 — April 3, 2026

Eaton, OH

Thomas Allen Stonecash, age 88, of Eaton, OH passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. He was born February 4, 1938 to the late Peter John and Martha (Cole) Stonecash.

Tom grew up in Eaton and was a graduate of the Eaton High School Class of 1956. After high school he married the love of his life Carolyn Wiegand of West Alexandria, OH in 1957. Early in his career Tom worked for the Eaton Community School District as a bus driver and custodian at East Elementary School. In 1973 Tom moved his family to Louisville, KY to become a Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream store franchisee. A few years later, Tom and Carol purchased a second Baskin-Robbins store. They worked together running their businesses until their retirement in 1996.

After selling the ice cream stores, Tom and Carol embraced a new chapter in life and purchased a fifth wheel trailer to travel around and explore the United States. Eventually, they sold the trailer and settled in Avon Park, FL where they created many cherished memories together. Tom loved to spend time outside in the Florida sun. There you could find Tom competing in shuffleboard several times a week, mowing grass for his neighbors, socializing with friends, playing cards, riding his bike, and enjoying evening walks and golf cart rides with Carol.

Throughout his life, Tom was an avid fisherman. As a young man he enjoyed fishing in Michigan and later in life you could find him fishing in Florida. He was also a passionate Ohio State Football fan and loved to watch the Buckeyes take to the field to compete.

Tom will be remembered for being a kind, gentle, loving, honest, hardworking person with a great sense of humor who always looked for the good in others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 65 years Carolyn (Wiegand) Stonecash, brother Calvin Stonecash, sister Marjorie Updegraff, and nephew Mark Stonecash.

He is survived by his daughter Kimberly (Craig) Tidwell of Louisville, KY; son Doug Stonecash of Jeffersonville, IN; grandchildren Ashton and Ava Tidwell of Louisville, KY, Douglas (Brianna) Stonecash, Jr. of New Albany, IN, Peyton (Dalton) Kreakie of Louisville, KY, and Connor (Abby) Stonecash of Louisville, KY; great grandchildren Lorelai and Emilia Stonecash, Dawson and Thea Kreakie; brother Bob (Marsha) Stonecash of Eaton; sister-in-law Barb Stonecash of Eaton, brother-in-law George Wiegand of Eaton, sister-in-law Marilyn Hamilton of Greenville, OH, and brother-in-law Tom (Judy) Wiegand of Henryville, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
