Thurman Dale Hackenbracht

March 28, 1944 — August 12, 2022

Thurman Dale Hackenbracht, age 78, of Eaton, Ohio passed away on August 12, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born March 28,1944 in Coshocton, Ohio to Marion Francis and Winnifred Corinne (Vinsel) Hackenbracht. Thurman spent 13 years as a linotype operator for a variety of newspapers and printers. He also worked for 26 years as a custodian in the National Trail School District until he retired. Additionally, he worked at Parker Hannifin and Miami University after retirement. Thurman proudly served in the Ohio National Guard and retired with 25 years of service. Thurman was a member of the Eaton United Church of Christ, the Razors Edge Barbershop Chorus, and the Eaton Community Chorus. Thurman was a long-time member of the Grange and was a leader for both the Boy Scouts and 4-H. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing Yahtzee. In his final years, he enjoyed going to the Senior Center on a regular basis.  Thurman is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ruby (McDivitt) Hackenbracht, his daughters Jean (Aaron) Cormany of Médina, Ohio, Shauna (Glen) Downing of Norfolk, Virginia, Son-in-law John Ballard of Tipp City, dear grandchildren Denell (James) Conrad, Noah Ballard, Charlene Ballard, Issabella Downing, great grandsons Josiah and Attison Conrad, and two sisters Kay (Jim) Butkus of Tully New York and Betty Hiney of Humble, Texas.  Thurman was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Hackenbracht.  There will be a Celebration of Thurman’s life on Friday September 2,2022 at 10 am at Gard Funeral Home 226 W. Main Street Eaton, Ohio 45320. The family is inviting friends and family to share in a meal together in honor of Thurman’s life. It will be held from 5-7 pm at the Senior Center 800 E St Clair St. Eaton Ohio.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Preble County Council on Aging or bring your favorite dish to enjoy with the family.  Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.gardfuneralhome.com.
