Wendy Kay Shade (Bond) passed away August 14, 2025 at Vancrest Nursing Home in Eaton, Ohio. She was born November 25, 1954 in Harlingen, Texas to Marjorie Schaller.
Wendy is a 1972 graduate of Whitehall Yearling High School in Whitehall, Ohio. She enjoyed working for several manufacturing companies in Brookville, Ohio and Clayton, Ohio. She and her husband, John managed the Sunoco on 40 and 49 for several years serving up hot breakfasts and lunches to all who stopped in to see their smiling faces. Wendy was a role model to her children with her tremendous work ethic.
Wendy was an avid bowler in her day, participating in several leagues at Timber Lanes in Clayton, Ohio. She enjoyed playing Euchre with many of her friends and family as well. Hobby Lobby was her go-to store where she would get her supplies for crafts. Wendy and John loved to find great deals at yard sales. She collected nutcrackers and snowman figures. She loved many dogs and cats throughout her life. Coloring with pencils was one of Wendy’s favorite things to do and she always stayed in the lines!
She is reunited in Heaven with her mother, Marjorie Schaller; her brother, David Bond; and her sister, Brenda Clemens Bond. Wendy is survived by her husband, John Shade; her brothers Butch Zurbriggen, Randy Bond, and Dale Bond; her children, April Shultz (Jeff), Wade Borts (Melinda) & Mandy Watts (Ron); and her 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Gard Funeral Home 67 W. Dayton Street, West Alexandria, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420.
