William Earl George

William Earl George, age 87, of Camden, OH passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 4, 1937 in London, KY to the late John Ancil and Eula Lee (Chesnut) George.

Earl was a 1956 graduate of Camden High School, where he played baseball and basketball for “The Camden Cubs”. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of the National Guard for 6 years. He married Sandra Sue Faris on June 1, 1963, and they went on to spend 60 wonderful years together. He started work at Raper’s RVs; he then co-owned and operated George Brother’s Garage in Camden for 50 years. He was a master mechanic and builder, having made 74 show wagons and carts and 749 cornhole sets over the years; he was known as someone who could fix anything. He also loved showing and driving his 6 haflinger horse wagons and going to local fairs like the Indiana State Fair, which he attended for 25 years. He was a member of the Western Ohio Pony Association; he was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #159 in Camden. Earl and Sandy were longtime members of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, Earl having been a charter member.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife Sandy S. George; sister Shirley M. (George) Flory; and brothers, John A. George, Kenny R. George, and Keith L. George. He is survived by his son, Curtis (Shelley) George; grandchildren, Kendel George, Steven Pettit, and Mandy Pettit; great-grandsons, Parker and Paxton Pettit; brother Gayle (Vickie) George; sisters-in-law, Patty George and Esther George; brother-in-law Jim Flory; adopted sons Bruce (Beth) Fornshell and Nick Clark; special caregiver and friend Rhonda Stevenson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty St. Camden, OH. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, May 30, 2025 also at the church with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Camden. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Hospice 360.
