Woodroe "Woody" Thomas Jones, Jr., age 81, of West Alexandria, OH passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at his residence in the presence of his loved ones. He was born September 7, 1944 in Charleston, WV to the late Woodroe Thomas Jones, Sr. and Loraine Mullins Jones.
He was well known in the water treatment industry and was self-employed for many years in the local area. He was affiliated with the Eaton First Church of God. During his 30 years volunteering with the Lions Club, he helped make their famous apple butter during Octoberfest and the Preble County Pork Festival in Eaton. He was an avid hunter of waterfowl, wild deer, and wild turkey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gregory G. Jones, infant sister Katherine Jones, brothers Bobby L. Jones and Willard Jones, and sister Karen M. Pringle.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth “Liz” King Jones of West Alexandria, son Scotty L. Jones (fiancé Angela D. Holbrook) of Xenia, daughters Angela Kae (Mark) Reed of Xenia and Jennifer Lyn (Thad) Inwood of Wilmington, OH, grandchildren: Jared (Nadia) Reed, Sarah (Billy) Rickels, Evan (Allison) Reed, Elizabeth (Brett) Middlestetter, Makenna Jones, Jace Jones, Lilly Hughes and Brandon Jones (Keisha Drinnon), great grandchildren: Leila Reed, Nora Reed, Everly Rickels, Franki Jo Jones, Emmett Reed, Margot Reed, and Eliora Middlestetter, brother Fred L. (Etta) Jones and sister-in-law Karen (Bobby L.) Jones, all of Lancaster OH, and numerous nieces and nephews called Woody their uncle.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 12:00 noon until time of memorial service at 1:00 pm at the Eaton First Church of God, 601 E. Lexington Road, Eaton, OH with Rev. Aaron Holman officiating. Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Alexandria is assisting with arrangements.
